Why ?

Translating document in MedisTree is a straightforward job, especially with the help of Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) software! Our CAT of choice is , which allow you a lifetime free usage without functionality compromise. Here, we want to walk you through the step-by-step process to translate your assigned document. If you have not registered to , please do so because the latter steps assume that you alrady have an account to acces .

Steps to use

As our CAT of choice, is fairly easy to navigate and use. The user interface is highly intuitive, and here we would like to introduce you on how to efficiently navigate through the platform.

Uploading new documents

When you are first registered to , you will land on you personal task dashboard. Initially, this will just be an empty space where you will upload your first document. Here you just need to click on the SELECT A FILE button, and voila! You will be upload the file you would like to translate.

Configuring your uploaded document

In the next page, you will be able to set your source and target languages. Please note the myriad options you can choose!

Then, you will click on the Advance settings tab, where you will be greeted by further translation configuration. In PRE-TRANSLATION tab, you can choose Machine translation which will greatly assist you in automatically translating your document. If you are happy with your configuration, click on the FINISH button.

Viewing the project dashboard

Now, you are landing on the project dashboard, where you can see your overall progress in translating the document. Take a look at the top navigation tab, here you have several options:

  • SETTINGS leads you back to the configuration page

  • FILES is the default page for your project dashboard

  • STATISTICS presents you some cool stats, but most of the time you won't need it

  • LINGUISTIC ASSETS is the glossary, translation memory, and all the good stuffs you will need to explore on your own

  • PRETRANSLATION is a freemium translation service, most of the time only using the fee service is enough

Let's say you get wind of using the linguistic assets, you can then rerun the pre-translation by clicking on the PRETRANSLATION bar. Then you will have to check the Confirm segments and afterwards click the SAVE & RUN button.

TRANSLATE!!

After you upload your document to , you will then need to configure your file. Just click the NEXT button here, and you are all set to go.

Finally, now you arrive at the heart of the platform: the translation page! You can see that every paragraph is broken down into a chunk of a sentence. On the left part is your source language and on the right part is your target language. See the MT logo? That's the short of Machine Translation. Please note that the machine is not perfect and you will need to manually evaluate the pre-translated version. However, this has reduced your workload by manifolds, and now you just need to make sure that every sentence sounds logical and coherent. Happy translating!
