Zulip

Zulip is the preferred and mandatory teamchat application for internal coordination.

General direction

Registration

  1. Register/login into your account: Zulip provides easy registration using SAML through Google account, GitHub, GitLab, and others.

  2. On most cases, you're registered as a member, but you may request an elevated privilege if necessary (i.e. to create a generic bot or make a new stream).

Cross-platform applications

Zulip is accessible using:

Accessing stream

By default, you're registered into three streams:

  • #announcement

This stream will let you receive incoming announcements from the stakeholders. We will announce occasional grooming session, open meeting, mini webinar, and other events. Information regarding MedisTree open-science community is also relayed in this stream.

  • #general-chat

You can use this stream to have a general discussion unrelated to the ongoing projects. We'd welcome you to discuss anything, from new research ideas to colloquial conversation about stuffs you like! 🍻

  • #new-joiners

This is the place to welcome new joiners ☺️ If you're new in MedisTree, we encourage you to introduce yourself here. If you'd like to try out Zulip messaging feature, you're free to use this stream as you will.

Project-based communication

As a squad member, it is a good practice to communicate your problem/blocker with the team (especially the QC/project manager) through Zulip. For a quick response, it is advisable to reach us out in your respective stream, e.g. use #writer-team stream if you're involved in a writing project.
